How to reset value of a form field using jquery or javascript

I have a form with multiple fields in it. I want to reset the value of one of the fields before submitting the form. I want to specifically reset the value of the first form field and not the entire form. I am new to javascript so I don’t know if this is possible or not.
This is the form:

Can the value of the first form element be reset using javascript or jquery?
I am currently working in Firefox. If it is possible, I would like a generic solution for this type of situation, and not a specific one for Firefox.

This question has already been answered, so I shall not provide an answer.
Instead, I shall provide a solution that works, irrespective of the browser.
Most browsers support the reset method, and it is used to reset an HTML form to its default state.
In this example, we use jQuery to reset the form’s first field.
jQuery(document).ready(function() {
.attr(“value”, “”)

Since, we are working with multiple fields, we cannot use the reset method on the entire form.
We shall be using the reset method directly on the form.
jQuery(document).ready(function() {
