AutoCAD: a desktop CAD program with 3D capabilities
Overview of AutoCAD The AutoCAD program (Figure 1) can be used as a standalone application or integrated with other Autodesk products. The Windows version of the software includes three programs: the 2D/2D Design program, the 3D/CAD Drafting program, and the 3D/2D Print/Plotting program. AutoCAD is mainly used by professionals to create three-dimensional (3D) models of buildings, sculptures, and mechanical parts, as well as to create two-dimensional (2D) drawings. AutoCAD is also used for small-scale architectural and engineering design.
As of 2017, there are three main editions of AutoCAD, with additional products under development. Creating a button in AutoCAD
The steps are as follows
Create a new drawing. I chose a very simple drawing for the purpose of this tutorial.
Create a Button Shape.
Create a button with a few lines that are centered and square.
Select the button.
Right click on the button and select “Modify…”
You will see a bunch of settings for the button
Now select the Create button option.
A dialog box will appear. You will see some settings for the Button.
Now you need to click on the “2” under “Behavior”.
Now you have a button in the drawing.
Creating a bar in AutoCAD
This is quite a similar process.
Open your new drawing.
Create a bar shape.
Right click on the bar shape and select “Modify…”
Make sure that you change the location to right and height to 100.
Again right click on the bar and select “Modify…”
You will get the settings for the bar. Select the “Layout” option.
Now you need to click on the “3” under “Behavior”.
Now you have a bar in your drawing.
Creating a text box in AutoCAD
The process of creating text is quite similar to creating buttons.
Click on the text box.
Right click on the text box and select “Modify…”
Now you will see a dialog box.
Select the “Behavior” and then select “Create”.
Make sure you select the “Text” option.
Now you have created the text.
Creating a button in AutoCAD MEP
First you will have to get the Autodesk “MEP” for the system.
